If You Can Imagine It, You Can Make It Happen. Here’s How…

a lady uses visualization to imagine and manifest her reality Did you know that you have a powerful “secret weapon” inside you that you can use to achieve any goal you can imagine?

It’s true! This weapon is your MINDSET. When you activate its unlimited power and truly believe that you are capable of achieving your dreams, you will. It’s just that simple.

But cultivating a success-oriented mindset can be challenging – especially if you’ve suffered setbacks in life or have been surrounded by negative people who attack your self-worth or self-esteem. Today I’m going to show you how to overcome these roadblocks – with five powerful techniques to help you create a positive mindset that will empower you to achieve anything you want in life.

1.  Meditate daily

When it comes to cultivating a success mindset, meditation is the most powerful tool at your disposal. It allows you to separate yourself from your thoughts so you can gain more insight into them and steer them in a more positive direction.

I recommend you set aside at least 10 minutes every morning to meditate. You can use a guided visualization or simply sit in awareness, observing your thoughts and then letting them go without becoming attached to them. If you don’t already practice meditation, I invite you to learn how to meditate here. (If you’re new to meditation you might also find my How to Meditate PDF Guide helpful.

2.  Control your self-talk

Researchers have found that the average person thinks as many as 50,000 thoughts a day. Sadly, many of those thoughts are negative:

  • I’m not management material
  • I’ll never lose weight
  • I’m not smart enough
  • I don’t have the right education or experience
  • If I open my mouth, I’ll say something stupid
  • It doesn’t matter what I do, nothing ever works out for me.

This is what psychologists call victim language. Victim language actually keeps you in a victim state of mind. It is a form of self-hypnosis that lulls you into a belief that you are unlovable and incompetent. In order to get what you want from life,

In order to get what you want from life, you need to give up this victim language and start talking to yourself like a winner:

  • I can do it
  • I know there is a solution
  • I am smart enough and strong enough to figure this out
  • I know what I’m talking about
  • Everything I eat helps me maintain my perfect body weight
  • It doesn’t matter if I fail – what matters is that I TRY

Your thoughts determine your actions, which determine your outcomes. That’s why it’s so important for you to think positive thoughts about yourself. Whenever you notice yourself thinking negative thoughts, consciously let them go and replace them with thoughts that are more empowering.

3.  Use positive affirmations

Affirmations are extremely powerful tools for building self-worth and self-confidence. I strongly encourage you to spend a few minutes every day repeating positive statements until they become a natural part of the way you think. Create a list of 10 to 20 statements that affirm your belief in your own worth and your ability to create the life of your dreams. These affirmations will replace the negative thoughts that have infiltrated your self-talk for all these years. Here are some examples:

Create a list of 10 to 20 statements that affirm your belief in your own worth and your ability to create the life of your dreams. These affirmations will replace the negative thoughts that have infiltrated your self-talk for all these years. Here are some examples:

I am worthy of love, joy and success.

I am smart and make wise choices.

I am loveable and capable.

I create anything I want.

I am able to solve any problem that comes my way.

I can handle anything that life hands me.

I have all the energy I need to do everything I want to do.

I am attracting all the right people into my life.

Be sure to use positive affirmations that resonate with who you are and where you’re at right now – as well as the kind of person you want to become, and the life you ultimately want to live.

4.  Act as if

One of the most effective ways to establish a success mindset is to act as if you are already the kind of person who has created the ideal life you want to live. Ask yourself:

Ask yourself: If you had already achieved your dream, what kind of person would you be? Who would you have as friends? What type of clothes would you be wearing? How would you act? How would you treat others? Would you tithe a portion of your income to your church or favorite charities? Would you have more self-confidence? A better attitude? Would you take more time to spend with your loved ones? Would you eat healthier and spend more time exercising?

Whatever actions you identify, start taking them now. By acting “as if,” you will become the kind of person who is capable of creating the kind of success you want – and this will trigger your subconscious mind to find creative ways to achieve your future goals. You will start noticing anything that will help you succeed. Best of all, you will start acting on this opportunities, because you will have the confidence that your efforts will yield great results.

5.  Surround yourself with positive, inspiring people

Finally, one of the best ways to cultivate a positive success mindset is to surround yourself with people who are positive and will cheer you on and inspire you to do your best.

Look for people who are highly motivated and have already achieved a certain amount of success in their own lives. Not only will they inspire you by example, they will be able to offer advice and support to help you deal with obstacles that they’ve already overcome.

Where can you find such people? One of the best places on Earth would be at my landmark Breakthrough to Success event. The people who attend every year are enthusiastic, growth-focused individuals who are highly motivated to create amazing lives for themselves. And they’ll cheer you on to do the same!

Believing in yourself is a choice

If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you are capable of making it happen. It’s your responsibility to take charge of your own self-concept and your beliefs. You must choose to believe that you can do anything you set your mind to – anything at all. Because the fact of the matter is, you can!

6 Tips to Get Out “Of The Mud” and Spring Forward Toward Your Goals

blog-springcleanyoursuccessefforts2We’re just a few days away from the beginning of spring – can you believe it? Now that we’re almost three months into the year, I was wondering how you feel about what you’ve accomplished so far in 2016.

Do you feel like you’re on track with your goals – or do you feel that despite your best intentions, you’re falling further and further behind?

If you’re feeling like you’re stuck in the mud and your momentum has slowed to a crawl, here are 6 tips on how to rejuvenate your success plan for 2016 and put some fresh “spring” in your step – so you can get back on solid ground and keep moving forward toward your goals!

1. Check your expectations

When we admire someone’s success, we tend to focus on the end result and overlook the time and effort it took to get there. This can cultivate unrealistic expectations and lead to the idea that overnight success is possible.

But the thing is, overnight success is a myth. REAL success typically follows a series of small events and achievements that can seem to take an eternity, include a number of disappointments along the way, and challenge you to the core: your stamina, courage, integrity, and even your willingness to keep going.

So if you’re feeling particularly challenged right now, don’t worry! It’s all part of the process. The important thing is to learn the lessons you need to learn and keep moving forward.

2. Focus on what is working – NOT on what isn’t working

When you’re frustrated because you’re not progressing as quickly as you’d hoped, it can be easy to focus on the negative instead of the positive.

You may even find yourself entertaining self-destructive thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “It will never work,” or “Something must be wrong with me.”

But one of the great laws of the Universe is, you get more of what you focus on. So if you pay more attention to the things that aren’t working, you’ll encounter more negative experiences, people, and results. And there’s not much success in that!

On the flip side, if you focus on what IS working, you will be able to see where you’re getting the best results for your efforts, and will start identifying new ways to get even better results!

3.  Keep a written record of success

Humans have a built-in negativity bias. It’s an evolutionary thing – it helped us stay alert to danger back in the prehistoric days when everything was out to kill us!

In modern times, this negativity bias causes us to feel and remember the bad things much more powerfully than we feel and remember the good things. It really helps to have a written record of what’s working so you can keep track of your positive achievements and remember them at the end of the day.

That’s why I recommend you keep a daily success journal. It’s a great way to focus your attention on the positive and continually stay on track with your vision for your ideal life.

Spend a few minutes each morning writing a list of what you’re grateful for in your life. Then, at the end of the day, write some notes on what went right that day. Be sure to write down everything, no matter how small it may seem. When you train yourself to recognize and acknowledge your own achievements, you are guaranteed to attract even more success into your life.

4.  Use meditation to cultivate a positive mindset

Meditation can be a powerful tool to help you find solutions to problems and shift your attitude so you can attract success sooner rather than later.

Meditation shuts down your judgmental, highly critical brain and allows your unconscious mind to take over – so you can enter a deeper state of inner peace and joy and tap into a higher level of creativity that will help usher in the results you want.

(NOTE: If you’re new to meditation or if you’ve struggled when meditating on your own, Awakening Power is a step-by-step guided visualization and meditation program that will provide you with a deeply satisfying experience.)

5.  Remember the rule of 5

My favorite way to get more done every day is to follow the Rule of Five. Here’s how it works: every day, identify 5 specific things you will accomplish to get closer to your goal – then don’t call it quits for the day until you cross each one off your list.

Not only will this give you a proven structure to ensure you get more accomplished every day, it will also give you a clear sense of what’s actually achievable in a day – and you can round up your goals or scale them back so they help you move forward consistently without exhausting yourself by working until midnight every night.

6.  Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and take BIG action

Let’s say you’re doing ALL these things, but you still aren’t happy with your results…

Here’s a question to consider: have you taken any BIG ACTION to launch yourself out of your current situation and closer to the life of your dreams?

You may be taking action – but it might be the same kind of action you’ve ALWAYS taken. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting the same results you’ve always gotten.

If you want to create a new life for yourself, you have to practice some new behaviors. Shake things up a bit and see if you can take new actions or modify existing ones. And don’t be afraid to do something BIG.

For example, if you dream of helping others and making a real difference in the world, one big action you could take that would generate phenomenal results in your life would be to sign up for my Train the Trainer Online program.

By taking this program you will become a certified Canfield Success Principles trainer – and will get all the tools, resources, and training you need to teach my proven Success Principles to any audience. Imagine what that would do for your life and career!

Go here to learn more: TRAIN THE TRAINER ONLINE

Finally, I want to remind you to be patient with yourself.

It’s natural to underestimate how long a certain goal can take, especially if it’s a big one.

When I set my goal to become a millionaire the year was 1983. How long did it take me to reach that goal? Eleven years. That’s how long it took for me to build up my career as a professional speaker, come up with the idea for Chicken Soup for the Soul, write the book, get it published, and promote it before it finally rocketed to the top of the bestseller lists.

That’s a lot of patience for someone who initially wanted overnight success!

So, yes, patience is a virtue. But keep at it, and in no time, you’ll be only one week, or one day away from your ultimate success.

Remember… stay positive, be grateful, reflect on what IS working – and continue to take ACTION!

7 Tips to Strengthen Your Intuition and Take Soul-Inspired Action

man strengthens intuition and clarity by star gazing

When we have a big question or an important decision to make, many of us look outside of ourselves for the answers.

We turn to Google. We get advice from our friends and family. We read books or consult the teachings of experts. Yet we often neglect to consult the most important authority of all: our own intuition.

Your subconscious mind is the source of your hidden genius and will always provide you with the knowledge you need to move forward in the right direction. This is true for all people, not just those who consider themselves to be psychic or highly intuitive.

Consider this: have you ever been thinking about someone – and out of the blue the phone rings and that exact person is on the line?

Or have you ever felt like someone is watching you – and when you turn around you see someone staring at you from some distance away?

These are just two common examples of your intuition at work. Just like memory, critical thinking, and intellect, your intuition is a mental muscle you can strengthen and use to create success and become the best possible version of yourself.

Here are seven tips on how to develop your intuition and leverage it to make wiser, more soul-inspired decisions for your life.

1. Recognize when your intuition speaks

First of all, in order to be able to use your intuition, you must able to recognize it when it speaks to you. Intuition usually isn’t loud or demanding – it’s subtle and communicates in different ways for different people.

For example, you may receive visual messages, such as images that appear in quick flashes or visions that unfold slowly, like a movie.

Your intuition might speak to you as a hunch, a thought, or in words. You may even be able to enter into a dialogue with your intuition to get more information and clarity.

Alternatively, your intuition may speak to you in physical sensations, such as goose bumps, discomfort in your gut, a feeling of relief, or a sour taste in your mouth.

You may receive intuitive messages through your emotions, such as feelings of uneasiness or confusion when your inner wisdom is steering you away from something – or feelings of euphoria and profound peace when you’re being guided down a path that will lead you to greater personal joy and abundance.

Sometimes intuition messages are simply a deep sense of knowing and certainty. If you’ve ever felt that you knew something to be true in the depths of your heart or soul, chances are it was a message from your intuition.

2. Deepen your intuition through meditation

In order to access your intuition, you need to deepen your connection to it – and meditation is an excellent tool for this. Regular meditation will help you clear your mind of distractions and teach you how to better recognize the subtle impulses from within.

I recommend you set aside time each day to meditate on your own, or use guided meditations such as those found in my Awakening Power program.

It doesn’t have to be long – even 10 minutes a day will yield powerful results and will make it much easier for you to notice your intuition when it speaks to you through words, images, emotions, or physical sensations.

If you don’t already practice meditation, you can learn how to meditate here.

3. Dedicate time to listen to your intuition each day

Life is busy, and in the rush to cross off items on our daily to-do lists, it’s easy to forget to stop and tune into our higher intelligence. But your most valuable wisdom comes when you are most open to receiving it.

That’s why I encourage you to devote time every day – multiple times a day, if necessary – to consciously give your intuition center stage. This is especially important when you’re being asked to make any important decisions. Be sure to take some time to sit with your intuition and look inside yourself for the answers before you choose which path to take.

4. Ask questions

Receiving wisdom from your intuition shouldn’t be a passive experience. Get specific about the information you need and what kind of answers you’re looking for. The more clearly you pose your questions to your innate wisdom, the clearer the answers will be.

5. Write down your answers

Intuitive messages are subtle and can fade from your conscious mind very quickly unless you take action to record them. In fact, neuroscience research indicates that intuitive insights not captured within 37 seconds will likely never be recalled again.

Journal writing is a highly effective way to access your intuition and capture its wisdom. I suggest you make a regular practice of journaling for just five or ten minutes a day – you’ll be amazed at the clarity of what comes through!

6. Take immediate action

The Universe rewards those who take action – and so does your intuition. When you act on the information you receive from your inner source of wisdom, you open the channel between your subconscious and conscious mind even wider and will receive more intuitive messages that are stronger and easier for you to hear and act on.

7. Trust yourself

The more faith you demonstrate in your intuition, the greater the results will be.

Whether you want to make better decisions, solve problems faster, or create winning plans for your life, you will achieve your goals faster and more effectively when you tune into your intuition and listen to what your inner wisdom has to say.

Trusting your intuition is all about trusting yourself – and the more trust you place in yourself, the more success you will have.

Easier said than done? I can help

Developing a strong connection with your intuition can be challenging, especially if you’ve spent a lifetime second-guessing yourself or not trusting your own decision- making skills, or if you have too many other “voices” in your head – voices of self-doubt, or blame, or judgment – drowning out your intuition.

If you feel like you need more help with this, I invite you to join me in person at Breakthrough to Success this August. In just five days, we’ll work together to quiet the voices that don’t serve you and strengthen your connection to your inner source of wisdom.

You’ll get clear on what it is you truly want from life – and the steps you need to take to make it happen. Plus, you’ll meet a huge group of supportive, highly motivated people who will cheer you on toward your goals, silencing those negative voices for good.

This is your best chance to work one-on-one with me as your personal mentor – and catapult yourself to a much higher level of performance in all areas of your life in just four short days.

Consider these two possibilities and ask yourself: what path is your intuition telling you to follow in order to create your ideal life and become the best possible version of yourself?

I look forward to working with you in person.
