Soul Food for Your Ears: The 30-Day Sobriety Solution is Now Available as an Audiobook

I’m delighted to announce that my new book, The 30-Day Sobriety Solution: How to Cut Back or Quit Drinking in the Privacy of Your Own Home, is now available as an audiobook!

I’m also thrilled to report that the book is getting rave reviews. What I find especially rewarding is that the positive feedback we’ve been getting comes not only from people who want to cut down or quit drinking, but from counselors and therapists who are using it in their recover and addiction practice.

Here’s what some people are saying about our revolutionary 30-day sobriety system…

“I wish I had this book years ago to have saved me so much pain caused from my ferocious drinking. I looked for help and sought out all kinds of expensive help and NOTHING came close to hitting the points like this book did with me to get me to stop drinking. This is what I needed.”

“This is going to be a life changer…”

“This book is going to help a lot of people – it is not just for heavy drinkers. You can put so much of what is taught in this book into other aspects of your life or specific addictions.”

“As a life coach, I deal with addiction problems frequently, and I can’t wait to incorporate this book into my coaching prescriptions for people who need it.”

“This book takes a topic that I’ve wanted to avoid entirely and breaks down the steps needed to address my addiction in almost an enjoyable manner… The tools and techniques shown in this book are literally the baseline for success in almost every area of life.”

“As a NLP Practitioner and Coach, I am hyper-critical when it comes to books that claim to create behavior change. This is one of the few I have read that actually delivers and in the privacy of one’s own home.”

“Your book is a godsend.”

It’s humbling to realize that this book – which I co-wrote with recovery expert Dave Andrews – is going to help so many people overcome negative habits that have been holding them back from creating a healthy, happy, and abundant life for themselves.

3 Proven Ways to Overcome Your Biggest Mental Blocks – and Take ACTION That Generates Results

Fear. Doubt. Hesitation. They’re the three biggest success blockers out there.

All too often, when presented with an exciting opportunity, we refuse to take action on it until we can see the entire pathway from start to finish. We are afraid to start because the outcome is uncertain.

And without that certainty, we succumb to doubt and question whether our efforts will deliver the results we long for.

And so we hesitate.

We spend too much time planning, thinking, researching, and analyzing – and don’t notice that the opportunity has already slipped away.

Highly successful people take a different approach.

When presented with an exciting opportunity, they lean into it. They don’t let doubt or fear stop them from taking action. They open themselves to possibility and pursue that opportunity further – without any expectations or guarantees of success.

Do you ever wish you could embrace opportunities without fear – and not let your mental blocks get in the way of creating fantastic results?

I’ve got your back!

Here are four proven ways to cultivate a success-focused mindset within yourself – so you can act on opportunities faster, get better results, and create a life you love.

1.  Focus on the “what” – the “how” will take care of itself

When we are presented with opportunities or envision big goals, one question often stops us in our tracks:

“But how will I do it?”

Even if we are able to picture the goal and get excited about the end result, our minds quickly start doubting our ability to turn our dreams into reality.

For example, you may picture yourself as a best-selling author, but then a little voice in your head reminds you that you don’t know the first thing about writing a book, the odds are stacked against you getting a publishing contract, you’ve never marketed a book before – and dozens of other excuses that make you hesitate and provide you with the justification you need to stay right where you are and NOT go after your dreams.

I’m here to tell you right now: DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE HOW.

Just because you don’t know how every single step of your journey is going to unfold, that shouldn’t stop you from getting started!

All you need to do is get clear on what you want and then take that first step.

When you lean into opportunity, you create momentum. Each step forward, no matter how small, broadcasts your intention to the world. And the Universe will respond by sending you the opportunities, resources and people you need at just the right moment in your journey for you to receive maximum benefit from them.

By leaning into it and being willing to explore the unknown, you became a co-creator with the Universe. All you need to do is put one foot in front of the other and keep taking the logical next steps toward your goal – and trust that the answers and resources you seek will appear.

Your journey will take you where you want to go… or even someplace better.

2. Turn roadblocks into redirection

If you’ve read my book The Success Principles, you might remember the story of a singer named Jana Stanfield.

After several years working in Nashville in pursuit of her dream of becoming a songwriter and recording artist, she concluded that trying to get a record deal was like pounding her head against a wall. She could try forever without any guarantee of success.

It felt like she was up against an insurmountable roadblock that was preventing her from going forward.

And so, because she loved singing so much and wasn’t willing to give it up, Jana decided to go sideways – and follow a new direction.

Instead of staying in Nashville and trying to get a record deal, she started singing at churches. The people in the congregation loved her voice and asked her if she had any CDs available.

So she took a leap of faith and hired an engineer to record 10 of her songs.

And the first time she offered her new CD for sale after a church service, she made more money than she had earned that entire week in her job!

Jana quickly realized that trying to get a record contract wasn’t the only way for her to create a successful singing career. She started her own recording company and today that company produces more than 50 motivational concerts around the world every year.

Jana’s songs have been recorded by internationally renowned singers such as Reba McEntire and Andy Williams and have been featured on Oprah, 20/20, and Entertainment Tonight.

Roadblocks don’t have to be insurmountable obstacles that put an end to your journey. Often they’re just sign posts pointing you in a new direction that will help you get where you want to go faster and with greater joy and ease.

3. Experience the fear and take action anyway

So many people think that in order to take risks and move beyond their comfort zone, they have to be fearless.

But that’s not true at all.

The definition of bravery isn’t being fearless – it’s feeling the fear and doing what you know is right in spite of it.

The fact is, if you want to take your life and business to the next level – if you don’t want to stay stuck where you are – you will have to confront your fears.

And that’s okay. Fear is natural.

But some people will do anything to avoid feeling fear. It’s understandable – fear is uncomfortable. And so, in order to avoid that feeling of discomfort, they let their fear stop them from taking the necessary steps to achieve their dreams.

This is something successful people don’t do.

They feel the fear – but they don’t let it stop them. They’re willing to take a leap of faith, even if they are afraid. They know that if you don’t act, opportunity will pass you by.

As former attorney general and U.S. senator Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

I truly believe that if a goal isn’t a little bit scary, or if it doesn’t create a bit of fear within you, it’s probably not worth doing.

So many people stop because they’re scared. Don’t let that be you! Embrace your fear. Get excited about it – because it means you’re onto something good!

Almost everything that’s truly valuable in life involves taking a risk. And the truth is, sometimes that risk means things won’t work out in the way you want them to.

But far more often than not – THEY WILL.

The opportunity WILL turn out to be something great.

The journey WILL lead you somewhere amazing.

And the risk WILL have been more than worth it.

So what should you be more afraid of…

Taking the risk and not having it pan out the way you want?

Or NOT taking the risk – and remaining stuck where you are?

A risk worth taking

Get excited about taking risks.

When you get excited, it means that you’re on to something great.

How I Lost 22 Pounds in 8 Weeks

Confession: this isn’t exactly what I look like without a shirt on. 😉

Four powerful strategies I used to stay motivated and hit my weight loss goals with maximum ease and minimum effort.

jack-scale2Here we are in February – and I’m very pleased to announce that I have hit my first big goal for 2016!

At the end of last year, I set a goal for myself to lose 22 pounds by the end of January.

When I stepped on the scale on January 31st, I was delighted to discover that I had achieved my goal. I’m down to 199.2 pounds and I look and feel so much better!

How did I do it – beyond the obvious methods of eating less and exercising more?

Here are four powerful strategies I used to stay motivated even in the face of temptation:

1.  I made the conscious decision to lead by example

As someone who is always encouraging others to become their best selves and create their ideal lives, I know that I must lead by example and use my own life to demonstrate that the principles I teach really WORK.

When I looked at myself in the mirror last year and considered how the extra weight I had gained over the past few years was impacting my health and energy levels, I realized that I needed to make some tweaks to my behavior in order to get back to being the best possible Jack I could be.

After all, I want you to do as I DO, not as I say!

2.  I set big consequences for myself

As you may know, I believe strongly in the importance of setting consequences – so to give myself extra motivation to stay on track, I told all the students in my Train the Trainer class, plus my entire staff and volunteer team that were at the event, that if I didn’t meet my goal, I would throw a lavish dinner party for them at my personal home this Spring.

Now, don’t get me wrong – I love socializing. But to throw such a big party for so many people in my own home, and especially right in the middle of my busy training and speaking season? It definitely would not have been ideal timing, hence a consequence that was an effective motivator.

3.  I made myself accountable to others

No man is an island, they say – and this is definitely true for me. I always find it easier to reach my goals when I have a team of people cheering me on. So I informed my friends and family about my weight loss goal and asked them to hold me accountable, and also told my fans and followers on social media. By announcing my goal and making it public, I felt far more obligated to follow through on it.

4. I quit drinking for 30 days

You may have noticed that last month I announced the release of my latest book, The 30-Day Sobriety Solution. As part of the launch, I decided to use the resources within the program to complete 30 days of sobriety and reset my relationship with alcohol.

I am by no means a heavy drinker, but over the holidays I did get into the habit of enjoying a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, and I knew that habit wasn’t serving my weight loss goals (Did you know that a single class of wine has 125 calories, and that a regular can of beer can have 150 calories? Those can add up quickly!).

I really feel that spending 30 days alcohol-free helped me feel energized and on purpose and played a big role in helping me lose weight. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the occasional glass of wine again in the future, but I no longer feel inclined to have one or two glasses every night – and the boost in energy and self-confidence I’m enjoying as a result of not drinking is very noticeable.

How are you doing with YOUR goals for 2016?

If you feel like you’re having a hard time keeping up with the goals you set for your life and business back in early January, what you might be missing is a clear system that outlines the steps you need to take to achieve your goals – and the community support to help you achieve them.

If that sounds familiar, I encourage you to join me and my team at Breakthrough to Success later this month (or this summer). Together we will help you get clear on what you really want from life and overcome the obstacles that have been holding you back from making your biggest dreams come true.

If you’re on track with your goals and feel called to help others experience a higher level of joy and success in their own lives, I invite you to sign up for my Train the Trainer Certification program! Our new class of 2016 is kicking off this month and it would be great to have you join us.

And when it comes to setting and achieving goals, remember this: when you start taking concrete steps towards your targets you will gain more traction and go much further, much faster. It’s okay to start small – just be sure to take it one step at a time and not give up. Before you know it, you’ll be celebrating the successful completion of your most ambitious goals as well!

The Secret to Activating the “Law of Attraction” (hint: it’s hidden right there in the title)

law of attraction used by happy lady with a laptop to manifest success

If you’re familiar with my work, you know I’m a huge believer in the Law of Attraction.

After all, I was featured in the ground-breaking movie, The Secret, which introduced the world to the Law of Attraction in a massive way. I’ve also written several books about it and it features prominently in The Success Principles and other programs I’ve created.

But over the years, I’ve come to realize that many people have misunderstood what the Law of Attraction is all about.

They think that all they have to do to create the life of their dreams is visualize what they want – and everything they desire will just naturally flow to them.

That’s not exactly how it works…

There’s something missing from this equation – and without it, no matter how much time and effort you put into visualizing your success, all you’ll ever be is a person with a dream.

In order to unleash the full power of the Law of Attraction and make your dreams come true, there’s one key ingredient you absolutely must integrate into your life: ACTION.

That’s right – once you have done the important inner work necessary to get clear on what you really want in life, you have to take ACTION – and take all of the steps required to make your vision a reality.

I’m not saying that all of your visualization and internal work isn’t integral to your success – in fact, Law of Attraction teachers Esther and Jerry Hicks often talk about how one hour spent on your inner journey has the same impact as seven hours of taking action in the outer world.

But that doesn’t mean you can ignore the action step altogether!

And yet I find that many people get so caught up doing the inner work, they fail to spend enough time taking the kind of action required to create the forward momentum they need to make their dreams a reality. If you want to achieve real and lasting success, creating balance between your inner and outer journey is essential.

The good news is, once you’ve done the inner work, the action work comes far more easily.

As soon as you start taking concrete steps towards your goals, you will activate the Law of Attraction – and gain more traction and go much further, much faster than if you didn’t have that clear vision in your head.

To help you on your journey, here are five concrete steps you can take to move into action – starting today:

1. Develop a strategic action plan

By creating a detailed list of every step you’ll need to take to achieve your goals, you’ll find it easier to move into action. You won’t waste time wondering what to do – because it will be clearly laid out before you. Be sure to identify the steps you’ll need to take to overcome every one of the obstacles you may encounter, as well – both inner and outer. This will help you deal with them much faster should they appear on your path.

2. Follow the trail

If you’re not sure which steps you need to take to achieve your goals, follow the breadcrumbs that others have left in their wake! After all, other people have already blazed the trail ahead of you and achieved the exact same goals that YOU want to achieve.

So if you want to shorten your learning curve, do some research and discover who these people are. Read their books and stories, watch their videos, listen to their webinars, and talk to them personally, if you can to find out what steps they took to achieve success.

Then follow their lead – it’s that simple.

3. Use the Rule of 5

When Mark Victor Hansen and I published our first Chicken Soup for the Soul book, we were so overwhelmed with possibilities for making the book a bestseller, we weren’t sure which ideas to pursue first. A wonderful teacher, Ron Scolastico, shared a powerful piece of wisdom with us: “If you would go every day to a very large tree and take five swings at it with a very sharp axe, no matter how large the tree, it would have to come down!”

That’s how we came up with the Rule of 5, which simply means that every day, you must do five specific things to move your goal toward completion. By committing to take meaningful daily actions to achieve your goals, you will accomplish more than you thought possible in a surprisingly short amount of time.

4. Involve others

If you’ve developed a habit of spending too much time on your inner journey, a great way to pull yourself back into the outer world is to enlist an accountability partner. Sharing your specific commitments with another person is a powerful way to ensure that you follow through on the actions you need to take.

You and your accountability partner can chat daily on the phone to share your commitments with each other and report on your success in achieving the previous day’s commitments. Or you can do this by email.

Or, if you feel a need for even greater accountability, you might want to enlist the services of a professional coach. A good coach can also help you explore

what might be fuelling your actions when you don’t keep your commitments, so you can overcome the limiting behaviors that are holding you back.

5. Check your beliefs

Many of us have beliefs that limit our success – including beliefs about our ability to take action, our capabilities, and what it takes to succeed. Take time to identify any negative beliefs that might be impeding your desire or ability to take action.

If you find yourself running up against limiting beliefs such as, “I’m not smart enough,” “I’m too busy,” “I don’t have the proper training,” or “It is going to take too long and be too challenging,” I encourage you to check out chapter 33 of my book, The Success Principles. It includes powerful exercises to help you shift your limiting beliefs into empowering ones.

In addition, I’ll offer you something that I use myself: A small sign on my computer that says, “So what? Do it anyway.”

So what if you’re afraid? So what if it’s expensive? So what if you’ve never done it before? So what if you don’t have all the information? Do it anyway, because once you take action, you’ll get feedback, and feedback tells you how to do it better.

Remember, the last six letters in the word “attraction” are “action.”

If you want to achieve results, you cannot only work on your internal world. You must also take action!
