April 2011 Ask Jack Call

Written by Jack Canfield | Wednesday, 06 April 2011 00:00

Ask JackI just got off another great Ask Jack Call.  We talked about how to create environments that support your success, which is one of the most commonly overlooked areas of our lives.  I answered some great questions, and also recommended completing some post-call homework: April 2011 Ask Jack Homework

If you happened to miss the call, you definitely want to check it out.  It was packed with information to help you identify what's holding you back, the truth about how many environments affect your reality, and how to create supportive environments that nurture your dreams and goals.  “Environments” is the theme for the month in the Inner Circle Club.  If you aren’t a member of the Club yet, click here for details on how to join.

We are now in the 4th month of a new year---how are you doing the your goals you set for yourself in the beginning of 2011?

Hi,
I'd like to thank you Jack and you Alex,
It was really great, I downloaded the templates and made very long listssmilies/smiley.gif
I've already changed burned bulbls, watered flowers, threw away several bin bags of stuff I didn't need, which just occupied space in cubboards.
I painted a storage outside my flat. I have a flat in a block built in sixties, the boards were scratched and dusty, so each time I was going out or coming back it irritated me. Now it has lovely, fresh brown colour
and makes me smile each time I'm passing it.
Funny thing happened last Saturday, 16th. One of my acquaintances to pick something up, I pointed at my paintwork as I was so happy with myselfsmilies/smiley.gif
He said something like 'You must've colleced that stuff for years!'( The storage is built from boards and you can see between them what's insidesmilies/wink.gif ) Yeah, lots of rubbish, I replied, then he offered to come with his van and help me to empty it!
He popped by on Wednesday evening, helped me to clear the storage, fixed shelfes and cupboards. Now the storage is tidy, with only some tools in!smilies/smiley.gif I can at last fully oped the door and walk inside!smilies/smiley.gif
So far so good, with a long list to go, but with several boxes ticked already!
Thank you once more.
Good luck to all of us, who are orginizing our environments to support us most!
Lukasz

Just listened to the call. It was great. I can attest to the environment having an impact on productivity. I recently moved into a smaller space and have yet to finish the unpacking. The negative impact on my productivity is high but I need to finish some construction before I can finish. My income tax refund has arrived and the construction can commence. I am so looking forward to a totally organized space soon.

Thank you Jack, (and Alex,) for the 70 minutes of awesome information in this month's "Ask Jack" call!

I've been a huge fan of organization my whole life. Several years ago though, I moved several times in a short period of time and I get behind in my filing system. The more time passed , the more I got behind! I didn't want to file the new incoming stuff away because I hadn't organized older stuff first and I wanted to go through everything in chronological order. (I decided that I would need WEEKS of non-stop, and uninterrupted dedication to this project to complete it, and I just couldn't seem to be able to take that kind of time off from my regular schedule!)

Well, I'm excited to report that the project only ended up taking 2 days to finish! NOT WEEKS! I was shocked! When I think back to all the stress that I was feeling because this project was always looming in the background and weighing on my shoulders, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry!

How did I do it?
Recently, I joined a woman's accountability group that meets every two weeks. I decided, "What the heck? I'll make one of my first goals to organize and complete my out-of-control filing system." The accountability piece was key! I'm a person who loves to cross things off "to-do" lists. The problem was I kept putting this project on list after list because I just kept growing numb to it---(just as you mentioned in your call!)
I even got turned on to your Success Principles book by a woman in the group during the first meeting! That was just 3 weeks ago and I can't even begin to tell you how taking action has changed my life!
I have always been "the idea girl" and now I am beginning my new life as, "The action gal!"

Thank you for creating the Inner Circle Club and creating so many wonderful ways to stay connected and interact with like-minds!
You are true gem Jack!

With deep appreciation,
Elise Burdick

Thanks for the great call Jack.

How many of you set up your next day at your desk before you leave for the evening? I'd like to affirm that idea shared in the call. As my day has many components, with many using the same predictable tools, if I prepackage these tools for each appointment the night before it takes on it's own creative energy and ease in an almost metaphysical way.

It gets you out of the administration and into the creativity, expectation, and respect of what each client or call needs rather than the more self absorbed effort of prep before the meeting.
Other thoughts or examples? Gotta go put out my clothes now for the morning. Make it a great one!

I work in a pretty negative work environment. I have made the decision that I really need to get out of my work place. Usually within 30 minutes of being there I want to scream 'can't we all just get along and just do our job'. It's really funny. I am, at the moment, a waitress. One might think its the customers who can be the pain in the butt. But actually are customers are some of the nicest people. I try to stress to the other girls that we are fortunate just to have jobs right now, but most of them just don't get it. I have made the decision to start my own business within the next year or so. One of the benefits of this is I will be able to create my own work environment. But in the mean time I will try to keep the faith and set an example and be postive at work. And really hope some of it will catch on. I have noticed a difference in one of my coworkers. Since I have been stressing how lucky we are just to be working and explaining on how things could always be worse she has changed her tune a little. She use to be one of the biggest complainers. She has told me several times that she enjoys working with me because I'm so positive and not alot seems to get me down. So staying positive can have its effects. I have noticed it first hand. So..others in bad work environment-keep the faith. You can't change everyones attitude but there will be a least a small ripple effect somewhere.
